
ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect after a violent attack on a woman.
At 2:30p.m. September 17, officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block North 10th Street in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
EMS transported a 36-year-old woman from the scene to the hospital for injuries incurred during the disturbance.
A 34-year-old suspect had left the area and not located. It was determined that the suspect had struck the victim with his hands and feet and struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat.
On Friday, police arrested Anthony M. Barnhart, 34, Atchison, on a District Court warrant and requested charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery and criminal threat, according to Wilson.
Authorities have arrested Barnhart six times over the past two years, according to online jail records.
