Barbara E. Gibson, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024.
She was born August 20, 1948 in St. Joseph to Elfred and Leila Davis.
Barbara grew up in St. Joseph, then moved to Leavenworth, where she served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, then Kansas City, Kansas, where she worked at the General Motors plant before becoming a forklift operator for the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement, she moved to St. Joseph.
She also was a trained beautician, working in beauty shops in Kansas City and St. Joseph as well as in her own home. She also received training in professional baking, with cakes being her specialty.
Barbara loved the Chiefs, watching “Family Feud” (for Steve Harvey), and anything gambling — going to the casino, playing Bingo or playing cards with friends.
She was a rock for the family, who never complained and loved family get-togethers and reunions. She leaves a legacy of strength, resilience and most of all, love for all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Country Squire and Freudenthal Hospice for their care of Barbara.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wayne Davis; grandson, Curtis Cruse Jr.; and siblings, Elfred Ronald Davis and Ronald Elfred Davis.
Survivors include her children, Tyrone Davis (Stephanie) and Tara Wilson; grandchildren, Rella, Heather, Jaquan, Ravene, Jeremiah, Dominic, Isaiah and Davonte; great-grandchildren, Breonna, Daejah, Diego, Kimarah, Brenzlee, Kenzlee, Cartel, Rumor, Kyree, Kyro, Kalee, Nylah, Cali, Charlie and Zavier; sister, Jane Webb (Claude), and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
