Elva "Vickie" (Ellis) Adams, 88, of St. Joseph passed away, June 6, 2023. Vickie was born November 6, 1934 in Faucett, MO, to Charles and Venora (Stafford) Ellis.
She met the love of her life, John, in 1951. He called her his pretty little red headed girl. They were married January 16, 1952 at the Nazarene Church in St. Joseph.
Vickie was an LPN and Director of Memorial Home and Meadow View Assisted Living in St. Joseph.
Survivors include her husband John; daughter Lynn Masterson; son Wayne Adams (Wendy); grandson John D. Welter (Amber); granddaughters, Heather Reed (Shannon), Shauna Collins (Joe); six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Ellis, Jr., John, Ellis, Earl Ellis; sisters Ruth Taylor, Jeanette Graves, Eva Ellis; and grandson Aaron Joel.
She enjoyed spending her time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a nurse, seamstress, cake decorator, great cook, and will be most remembered as the favorite playmate to her grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Aseracare hospice family and the Diversecare Nursing Home who showed love and cared for her in her last days.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
