St. Joseph woman jailed after 2-vehicle injury crash

BUCHANAN COUNTY—One person was injured and another arrested after  an accident that occurred just after 11p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by  Serenity K. Violett, 26, St.  Joseph, was eastbound on Filmore Street and a 2011 Chevy Camaro driven by a 23-year-old St. Joseph man was northbound on Saint Joseph Avenue. Violett failed to stop for a red light. The Ford struck the rear drivers side of the Chevy. After impact, the Ford traveled off the west side of the road and struck a power pole.

Police arrested Violett on requested charges including a parole violation warrant, failure to appear warrants on an original charges of driving while suspended or revoked, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash, failure to register a motor vehicle and for no insurance. 

A. private vehicle transported the Chevy driver to local hospital for treatment.
