BUCHANAN COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 11p.m. Monday in Buchanan County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Ford Fiesta driven by Makenzye M. Seminara, 24, St. Joseph, was northbound on Interstate 29 one half mile south of St. Joseph.
The vehicle was following a 2017 Ford Escape driven by Tevye P. Leighr, 44, St. Joseph, too closely, was distracted and failed to notice the Ford Escape slowing.
Seminara lost control of the Fiesta. It traveled into the passing lane. The driver overcorrected and the Fiesta struck the Escape in the front fender.
Leighr lost control of the Escape. It traveled off the road, down an embankment and overturned. The Fiesta also traveled off the road and down an embankment.
Buchanan County EMS transported Leighr to Mosaic Life Care. Seminara was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP.
