Mustangs overcome six-run deficit to stun Chillicothe Thursday

The St. Joseph Mustangs overcame a 6-0 deficit and scored nine runs in the final four innings to beat Chillicothe 9-8 at Shaffer Memorial Park in Chillicothe Thursday.

Trailing 8-6 entering the ninth, St. Joseph scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth off of a two-run RBI single from Ben Click.

Bishop LeBlond alum William Dryburgh went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and two RBIs. Lafayette alum Cole Slibowski was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Ryker Curry was the winning pitcher, tossing the last four innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, a walk and a strikeout.

Chillicothe had the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth, but the Mudcats grounded out into a double play to end the game.

St. Joseph improves to 29-15 on the season.

The Mustangs have their last two regular season home games of the season this weekend. The first of those is Friday night against Chillicothe. First pitch at Phil Welch Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
