Robert Eugene Eckert, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri died at St Luke’s North hospital on February 10, 2024.Bob was born October 26, 1934 to Jesse William and Willa Mae Bane Eckert in Chula, Missouri. He spent his early youth in Chula before he moved with his family to Chillicothe, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1952. After high school he moved to Kansas City, Kansas where in 1954 he was employed as an aircraft mechanic at the TWA Overhaul Base which was then located at Fairfax airport. While living in Kansas City, Kansas he met Marjorie Crystal Tucker who had moved there from her home town of Tunas, Missouri. They married on March 6, 1955. After the TWA Overhaul Base moved to the new MCI Airport in Platte County, they moved in 1959 to Platte City, Missouri where they raised their children Jeffrey Robert Eckert and Janet Crystal Eckert. Bob continued working at TWA where he had risen to management until his retirement in 1992. In retirement he was active in the Platte County Historical Society and the Platte City Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Elizabeth Stone, Karen Holloway and Shirley England. His wife Marjorie died September 25, 2008. His daughter Janet died January 12, 2018. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Dana) of Ellicott City, Maryland; granddaughter Krystle Crockett (Aaron) Green of Kansas City, Missouri and two great-grandsons Sam and Jack Green also of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by sister Sharon (Mark) Sutich of Wakefield, Massachusetts. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00am at Rollins Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service at 11:00am at the funeral Home with burial at the Platte City Cemetery following.
