A 29-year-old has died of injuries suffered in a confrontation late Christmas evening and St. Joseph police now consider the case a homicide investigation.

The St. Joseph Police Department identifies the victim as Dallas Dakota Rails.

The initial report to the police department was that a homeowner on Lakeview Avenue told police he confronted an alleged burglar attempting to break in to his detached garage. A confrontation left Rails with serious injuries. He was rushed to the Mosaic Life Care emergency room.
