Helen Marie Gilbert, a loving mother, and grandmother, passed away on September 23, 2023. Born in St. Joseph, MO, on February 4, 1938, she packed many lifetimes of love and laughter into her 85 years.
After graduating from Lafayette High School in 1956, Helen worked as a machine operator at Meade Products. February 12, 1956, she was wed to Chester Lee Gilbert, and their marriage was a loving partnership until his passing in 2000.
A sports enthusiast, she showed her allegiance by faithfully supporting Chiefs football. An ardent lover of nature, she found great joy in fishing and tending to her garden. Her membership at Eagles Lodge kept her socially active, and she always looked forward to attending functions at Silver and Gold.
Helen is survived by her children, Duane Gilbert, Kandy White (Mike), Ronnie Gilbert, and Timothy Gilbert (Kim); grandchildren, Korinda, Krystal, Kari, Bailey, and Chase. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends whose lives she touched.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Chester; parents, Lloyd William and Beatrice Elaine (Rhoades) Gillespie; brother, William Gillespie; sister, Betty Hart; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Crittenden.
Graveside Farewell Services and Inurnment 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
