A man died; a woman has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a train crashed into a minivan attempting to clear railroad tracks in northern St. Joseph this past weekend.
St. Joseph police report the minivan attempted to cross the railroad tracks near Waterworks Road about a mile north of the St. Jo Frontier Casino around 4:30 Saturday afternoon when the crash occurred.
The impact threw the man from the van. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders. The woman remains in critical condition at the hospital, according to police.
No names have been released.
