Darlene Ann (Demars) Mossburgh passed away on December 3rd, 2025 at the age of 80, surrounded by her loved ones.Darlene was the baby of her family, born on April 6th of 1945 to Louis “Tom” & Aurelia (Leduc) Demars in Concordia, Kansas.
Darlene married Robert “Bob” Mossburgh also of Concordia, Kansas on September 25th of 1965. Their life with each other began in Concordia before moving to Leavenworth County in 1966. It was in Leavenworth that they settled and built their lives, spending the majority of their 60 year marriage here.
Darlene had a love for cooking and spent three years of her life working as a baker at the Leavenworth High School. She then spent the other parts of her life as a homemaker, caring for her children, her grandchild, and all of their friends who saw her as a bonus Mom or Grandma.
She enjoyed spending her summers with her family whether that was back in Concordia or at Perry Lake. Darlene always loved visiting casinos and playing cards with her sister while Bob drove the getaway car. She enjoyed watching Disney movies, playing video games, and baking with her grand-daughter. She loved music and thoroughly enjoyed going to concerts with her daughter and friends. Darlene also had a love for animals and had many pets in her lifetime.
She is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Kristine Pagenkopf and husband Don, son Scott Mossburgh, and only grand-daughter Haley Pagenkopf. She is additionally survived by six nieces and nephews (along with the following generations), and lots of bonus kids and grandkids that she loved like they were her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Delia Kiefer, and three brothers, Robert Demars, Melvin Demars and Leland Demars.
Services will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel at 531 Shawnee Street of Leavenworth, Kansas December 12th, 2025 from 5-7PM. Reverend Donald Noah Sr. will be officiating. A dinner for friends and family will follow at the Carousel Museum. A proper Celebration of Life is being planned and scheduled for after the New Year. More details will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. where Bob and Darlene adopted their most recent dog, Penny.
