The St. Joseph Mustangs had the tying run on second in the ninth inning and got a strong outing from pitcher Ty Hilsabeck, but the Chillicothe Mudcats came away with a 5-4 win in Chillicothe Wednesday.
Hilsabeck, a Savannah native, struck out six and walked only two in seven innings on the mound. He allowed seven hits and three earned runs.
Another former Savage, Noah Bodenhausen, went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs. Ryan Callahan went 3-for-4.
The Mustangs fall to 12-7 on the season. St. Joseph opens a three-game homestand Thursday night against the Ban Johnson Raiders. First pitch at Phil Welch Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
