Steven Christopher “Stevie” Gilliland, age 56, of Excelsior Springs, MO, formerly of Atchison, KS, died January 2, 2023, at his home.
Stevie was born on December 14, 1966, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Jack Gilliland and Carole Tilton. He attended schools in Atchison, including trade school classes at Northeast Kansas Technical College.
He spent nineteen years as an over the road truck driver where he hauled anything and everything you can think of. He was always a handy man and spent many years in the construction industry for both himself and some local contractors. He was an avid biker and participated in countless rides for charity. In his teens, he was a master pool player continuing this skill for many years. He always enjoyed playing the guitar and drums, throwing darts and horseshoes and loved tinkering and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Renee Titus-Gilliland, who he married on August 31, 2007; three sons, Matthew B. Andrews, Mitchell Earlywine, Steven Gilliland; three daughters, Lara Andrews Kutz, Heather Fogle, Jessica Gilliland; two brothers, Jamie Gilliland, John Gilliland; three sisters, Sheryl Fritz, Julie Gilliland, Beth Gilliland-Charnick; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James David Horton.
Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.
