New COVID-19 cases surge past 100 on a single day for the first time

A huge spike in new COVID-19 cases has been reported by St. Joseph health officials.

Health officials report 131 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, the first time Buchanan County has recorded more than 100 new cases in a single day. The jump brings the Buchanan County total to 4,659. Buchanan County has recorded 53 deaths.

Mosaic Life Care reports a slight drop in hospitalizations with 75 COVID-19 patients being treated at the St. Joseph hospital as of Wednesday morning with four in Maryville. On Tuesday, Mosaic reported 82 coronavirus patients in St. Joseph and five in Maryville.

Mosaic has tested 45,657 area residents now with 4,504 testing positive.

Andrew County reports no new cases with its total at 795 since the pandemic began.

Doniphan County, Kansas reports a total of 270 cases.

Missouri health officials report a total of 216,697 cases, resulting in 3,299 deaths.

Kansas health officials have recorded 103,553 cases with 1,181 deaths.
