St. Joseph school students return to class today, after the winter storm forced a snow day on Wednesday.

The St. Joseph School District issued a media advisory stating the district will resume classes and its normal schedule today.

St. Joseph police report Phase II of the St. Joseph Emergency Snow Ordinance was lifted overnight with the announcement released at 1:15am.

The winter storm that hit the area moved through around noon on Wednesday, leaving from three to five inches of snow and bitter cold temperatures in its wake. The National Weather Service expects sunny, but very cold conditions today with a high of 19. The extreme cold continues overnight with the forecast expecting a low of two-above.

The forecast for Friday calls for sunny conditions, warmer, with a high of 33.

The storm seems to have moved to other parts of the central United States with northeast Missouri still bracing for more after cities such as Hannibal received nearly a foot of snow.
