The northwest Missouri cybercrime taskforce, led by Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett, works to combat online crimes against children.
Puett says the taskforce works hard every day to combat these online predators and protect children in northwest Missouri.
"At any one time, we've got between 50 and 75 cases working where they've got legal process out," Puett tells KFEQ Hotline host Barry Birr.
Puett says most of these involve sex crimes against children
"The child pornography, the sex crimes, and the solicitation, things like that," Puett explains. "And when I say 50 to 75, that's usually what we have out in legal process meaning we have subpoenas or search warrants out waiting for information, and sometimes we can have more cases than that where they actively have the information back and they're working on it."
Puett says the taskforce works crimes from Buchanan County north to the Iowa border and to around Livingston County.
