Floyd Nelson Sellars 1933 - 2024

Floyd Nelson Sellars, 91, Seattle, WA, formerly of Dearborn, Missouri passed away Friday, December 13, 2024.

He was born in Dearborn, Missouri on May 27, 1933 to Virneta (Guyer) and John D. Sellars.

He attended Dearborn High School, Floyd went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Armed Forces from May 20, 1950, to June 9, 1952. His commitment to public safety and service continued as he joined the ranks of the St. Joseph Police and Fire Departments. Floyd's career path later led him to Trans World Airlines (TWA), where he retired as an airline mechanic. He enjoyed farm life and general outdoors.

Floyd's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family. He was the loving husband of Betty Jo (Ruarke) Sellars, father to Nelson Sellars, Cherie Hall, Lorie Deyo, and stepdaughters Ginger Hendrickson-Donahoe and Joan Hopkins (Roger). His warmth extended to his grandchildren, Damian Guilliams, R.L. Tackett (Courtney), Josh Chesnut, Stormie Daniels (Tim), and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss his playful spirit and tender care. Floyd's twin brother, Lloyd Sellars, will fondly remember their shared moments and lasting bond.

Floyd's interests showcased his love for family and zest for life. Even at 89, he was full of energy and joy, delighting in moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His ability to connect with the youngest members of the family was a source of joy for all who witnessed it.

Floyd lived a life marked by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends for generations to come.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings,

Tom Sellars, Jack Kempt, Nathan Sellars, John Sellars, and Caroline Surface; his son, Rodney Sellars; and stepson, Dale Hendrickson.
