Over 90 traffic stops, 18 arrests made in special operation by St. Joseph Police, area law enforcement

A special operation by the St. Joseph Police Department led to nearly 100 traffic stops and multiple arrests overnight Wednesday and into early Thursday morning.

The department had assistance from the Buchanan County Sheriff's office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. In all, 46 officers took part in the operation.

This led to 92 traffic stops, 61 written citations or warnings, 54 verbal warnings and 18 arrests, including seven investigation charges of those who resisted arrest.

Of the traffic stops that were made, seven vehicles fled. Six of these were pursued with helicopter. All six of those suspects were caught and brought to jail.

There were also 10 total warrants served in this operation - eight from the state and two from the city of St. Joseph.
