In loving memory of Michael Stephen Schutlz.
Mike, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, soon to be great grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2025, at the age of 71 surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 13th, 1953, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Mike lived a life defined by loyalty, generosity, his faith, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
As a father, Mike was a source of guidance, strength, and unconditional love. His children, David Schultz (Joella), Alexis Rodney (Dale), Brooke Beaty, and Erin McGregory (Richard), remember him as their greatest cheerleader, teacher and unwavering presence in their lives. His wisdom and humor shaped their lives in profound ways.
To his pride and joy, Myles, Maddyson (Jacob), Brady (Donte), Brennan, Simone, Owen, Oliver, Dalton, Dylan, and Joslyn, Papa was a beacon of thoughtfulness, gratitude and kindness, and a foundation of stories, always ready with a smile and “How ya doin’ kid?”. His legacy of love, acceptance, punctuality, and Rock n’ Roll will live on through them.
Mike served as Flight Engineer in the Missouri Air National Guard and was a hardworking, disciplined, and decisive man who knew how to make people laugh with his uncompromising authenticity. He was true to himself, honest, intentional, predictable, and dependable, who wouldn’t step foot outside without his fedora and Oakleys. He stopped at nothing to ensure his people knew how special and important they were to him. His zeal for old cars, selecting the best cards, antiquing, sports, and flight engineering was absolutely “killer”. As a pillar of his family, Mike planted deep roots in the gospel, pointed others to the cross, and as a result of his steadfast pursuit of God’s heart, his family finds comfort and peace in the truth and promise that is Heaven.
