Robert Lumpkin Jr, 95, of Savannah, MO passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at a local hospital in St. Joseph. He was born on April 6, 1928 to Henry & Effie (Daniel) Lumpkin. He married Shirley Ann Stankiewitz on May 14, 1949 in Chattahoochee, GA and she preceded him in death in 2005.
Robert enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, and any kind of birds. He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. He was on the last flight of the Concord. He was a World War II Veteran and was blessed to be on the Honor Flight for Veterans. Robert retired from McDonnell Douglas Aerospace. When he retired he moved to Missouri and then a few years later served as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Andrew County, MO.
Survivors include his sons, Robert B. (Diane) Lumpkin of Tucson, AZ and Jimmy (Nancy) Lumpkin of Harrisonville, MO; grandchildren, Tamara Roberts and Jacob J. (Monica) Lumpkin; great-grandchildren, Emma Ann Beckemeier, Zoey Lynn Beckemeier, and Nevaeh Lumpkin. He was preceded by his parents, wife, son Chester Lumpkin, four brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation and family receiving hours will be 6:00pm - 7:00pm Friday, March 22, 2024 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah MO. Memorial services will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to Fisher House Foundation for Military & Veteran Families 4801 E. Linwood Blvd. Inurnment will be at Fort Leavenworth Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas at a later date.
