Shirley C. Maddox, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026.
She was born July 10, 1934 in St. Joseph to Andrew R. and Iva H. (Conant) Hockaday. Shirley grew up in the St. Joseph and Amazonia, Missouri, areas.
Shirley worked at NOMA Lites, Whitaker Cable and Johnson Controls. In retirement, she was a greeter at the South Belt Walmart.
She was an avid reader who loved gathering the family for dinners, where her fried pork chops, angel food cake with strawberries, and dumplings were favorites.
A strong, determined lady who knew what she wanted, Shirley leaves her family a legacy of love and the value of hard work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, James Broce; sisters, Adlee King and Frances Roberts; and brother, Floyd Ford.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Keller (Dan); grandchildren, Bub Keller (Amy) and Shelly Haeker (Eric); great-grandchildren, Austin Haeker (Shelby), Cody Haeker (Jess), Tyson Keller, and Calli Keller; and great-great-grandchildren, Olen and Adaley Haeker.
Graveside Farewell Services and Interment 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 2, Memorial Park Cemetery. The procession will leave from the funeral home. Following the service, the family will receive friends 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
