The search for St. Joseph’s next police chief has officially begun.
The city announced Friday that Public Sector Search & Consulting, a firm that specializes in conducting national level recruitments for police executives, was hired by the city of St. Joseph to assist in this effort.
The search firm hosted multiple virtual meetings of diverse internal and external stakeholders and administered an online survey to both the police department and the community.
Responses to the surveys were significant with feedback from residents, businesses, police department employees and several community partners about the qualifications wanted in potential candidates.
The city hopes to announce a new police chief this spring. The recruitment profile can be found on the city’s website.
Dave Hart has served as the city's interim police chief since Chris Connally retired from the position this past fall.
