Frances J. Herbert 1929 - 2023

Frances June Herbert was born at home on December 29, 1929 in Maitland, Missouri, the daughter of Leonard D. and Esther L. (Wehrli) Huntsman.

Frances graduated from New Point High School in 1947, where she had a reputation for being a spiker on the volleyball team. She then attended Northwest Missouri State College until her marriage to PM Herbert on December 17, 1949. She and PM became the parents of four children.

After her marriage, Frances spent the majority of her life being a farm wife and mother. She enjoyed attending activities of her children and grandchildren, as well as gardening and yard work. She held various jobs in the community.

She attended church at New Point Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano. Due to the closure of the New Point church, she became an active member of the Woodville Presbyterian Church.

Frances passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023, surrounded by her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Paul Max “P.M.”; sisters, Doris Meyer and Linda Painter; daughter, Karen Hinkle; son-in-law, Bill Slusher; and grandson, Adam Slusher.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Herbert of Pittsburg, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Chuck McComb of Maryville, Missouri; and daughter Reva Slusher of New Point, Missouri; sister, Charlotte Sherod of Camp Verde, Arizona; son-in-law, John Hinkle of St. Joseph, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Logan Herbert, Larisa Morris, Lisa Allen, Jennifer Dean, Jason McComb, Joshua McComb, Kayla Ripley, Brent Ripley, Darcie Hinkle, Kacie Wood, and Sarah Slusher; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the New Point Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and services to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at New Point Cemetery.
