ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a teen runaway in connection with an alleged attempted robbery.
Just before 8:30a.m. Monday, police learned of a juvenile runaway, according to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson.
Just before 3p.m. Monday, police investigated an attempted robbery in the 400 block North 10th Street. A victim reported that she was approached at the door of her residence by a teen demanding her purse. The victim screamed and the suspect fled the area.
Officers continued to search for the runaway who also had become a suspect in the attempted robbery. Officers located the 15-year-old boy on Tuesday afternoon at a residence and he was taken into custody for the attempted robbery. He was transported to a juvenile detention facility.
