Betty Lou Jeannin passed away on August 22, 2023 at the age of 91.
She was born on November 1, 1931 to Waldo and Lucy Slapper in Benton County, MO.
She attended Leavenworth Public Schools. Betty worked various jobs in the Leavenworth area including the downtown movie theater, Homer’s Restaurant and most notably as a machine operator for Hallmark Cards. She married Harold Jeannin on July 24, 1971 and they built a home together and shared many years of motorcycle riding.
She took great pleasure in growing flowers and tomatoes. She spent many hours bird watching on her back porch with her beloved dogs. Later in life, she found a special place in the Fortress of Faith Community.
Her greatest pride and joy was in visiting with her family and special friends. She is survived by three children: Cindy McCurren of Grain Valley, Missouri, Martha Villarreal (Roy) of Leavenworth, KS; and Robert E. Windham of Leavenworth, KS. She loved her fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She often visited with her siblings; Dorothy Woods, Bill Slapper, Larry Slapper and Kathy Price all of Leavenworth, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Lucy Slapper, her husband, Harold Jeannin, her sister, Faye Arck, and her great-grandsons, Logan and Austin Jackson.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Fortress of Faith Church.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 4 to 6 P.M. and funeral services on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 10 A.M. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee Street, Leavenworth, Kansas. Interment will take place following the service at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
