Margaret L. (Cook) Augustine, 74, of St. Joseph, formerly of Florida, passed away on Friday, April 10th, 2026 at Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, Missouri. Margaret was born to Edith (Jordan) and Richard Cook on September 11th, 1951. Margaret grew up with her sister, Nancy, spending their childhood in St. Joseph, Missouri. She graduated from Lafayette High School with class of 1969, before attending Missouri Western.
Margaret's careers drew her to the Florida, where she spent a majority of her adult life. Working for Winchester Rifles as a territory sales representative. Before becoming a flight attendant for a specialty air line that flew traveling basketball teams, and lastly she worked as a cook preparing specialty foods in a grocery store. Upon retiring, she moved back to St. Joseph to be closer to her cherished family.
While in Florida, Margaret embraced the beach lifestyle, taking every chance she could to keep her toes in the sand. Margaret also enjoyed visiting a local casino to test her luck on winning, always knowing when it was time to call it quits. Margaret's quick wit, and zest for life will be cherished by many.
Preceding Margaret in death were her parents Richard and Edith Cook, and her sister Nancy Shepherd.
Margaret is survived by her brother-in-law, Steve Shepherd, Nephew, Matthew Shepherd, and Niece, Jennifer Brown. Additional survivors include: Aunt Charlene Jordan, many cousins, two great-nieces, and a great-nephew.
Services for Margaret will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel of St. Joseph, Missouri, officiated by celebrant, David Mejia. The visitation will be held 1 hour prior, starting at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at the Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial donations in lieu of floral arrangements can be directed to Gower Convalescent Center's Activity Fund in memory of Margaret Augustine.
