It is with profound emotion that I share that our beloved and irreplaceable Ely Carmela Caceres Pinedo de Johannes was called to heaven on Sunday, November 5th, 2023. She leaves with us a legacy of cariño, beauty, love, and a passion to succeed and aid those in need. Born on March 21st, 1975, in Lima, Peru to Idel and Magda Caceres Pinedo. Ely was angelic in the way she always worked hard and protected and cared for her family and loved ones. Her most gracious and expansive heart easily surpassed her exquisite outer beauty. Her life was one of dedication, sacrifice, perseverance, competition, and passion to achieve more and enjoy the best life had to offer, paired with a level of class and taste like none other.
Ely excelled early on in karate and competed on the Peruvian Nation Federation Karate team, having a highly decorated, long career, including the titles of gold medal Peruvian National Champion, gold medal Sud American Champion, and gold medal Pan American Games Champion and more. It brought so much joy to her in representing her country and helping to put Peru and the Peruvian National Karate Federation on the map as a world class competitor and so much more. The addition of Karate to the World Olympics starting at the Tokyo 2020 Games was a special moment for Ely.
Our angel graduated from the esteemed National University Federico Villarreal in Lima, Peru with a degree in Law and Political Science, allowing her an illustrious career as a lawyer and beyond. Our beloved Ely is survived by her husband Jonah, mother and father, Magda and Idel, sisters, Julie, Isabelle, Giovanna, Monica, and Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, and much extended family. Locally, Ely is survived by her father and mother-in-law Shon and Florence Johannes, along with sisters and brother-in-law, Sophie Fix, Jacob Johannes, and Suzie Johannes and their lovely families. Ely was very passionate and took great joy in her family, playing competitive volleyball, hiking, traveling, culinary arts, interior design, health & nutrition, dance, and preservation of nature. There is a huge void in our hearts as we long to be reunited with her in our forever home, all thanks to our Savior Jesus Christ thru whom all blessings flow.
Ely was laid to rest in her home country of Peru, November 9th, 2023. A mass was held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Denver, CO on December 10th, 2023.
