Joseph R. Liebel Jr., 64, of Elwood, KS passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at his home. He was born August 6, 1958 in Jefferson, LA, son of Violet and Joseph Liebel Sr.
Joe married Nina Helton on December 31, 1983. He worked at City of New Orleans Sewer and Water Board for many years before moving from Louisiana nearly 20 years ago. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church in Wathena. He enjoyed coaching youth sports in Louisiana. Joe loved being outdoors, especially fishing and also enjoyed shooting pool. He would often be found helping others out and will be remembered for his crawfish boils.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nina Liebel in 2021 and sister, Karen Martin.
Survivors include his children, Wendi (Gabe) Ortega of Elwood, KS, Meghan Liebel (Jesse Conner) of St. Joseph and Joseph Liebel III (Alexis Hall) of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Madison, Tori, Tenley, Isabella Jase, Selena, Annika, Braz Hall, and Joseph Liebel IV, and great-granddaughter, Ava.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday July 10, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream will be 6:00 PM, Monday, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Mr. Liebel will be cremated following services.
