Area track athletes in Class 3-5 qualify for state at sectionals Saturday

Class 3 sectional at Warrensburg
The Benton boys 4x800 meter relay team finished third in sectionals with a time of 8:19.54. That team includes Conner Jones-Taylor, Tabor Bigham Elliot Mccoy 11 and Kruz Bigham.

Kruz Bigham is also state bound in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.43.

On the girls’ side, Savannah’s Vivian Barton is statebound in the 100 meter dash. She finished fourth at sectionals with a time of 12.79 seconds. Savannah’s Rhyan Shrick is headed to state in girls’ javelin. She finished third in sectionals with a throw of 122 feet - 4 inches.

In the girls’ 100 meter hurdles, Lafayette’s Honor Mannings finished fourth and will go to state with a time of 15.13 seconds. Mannings will also compete at state in 300 meter hurdles. She finished second with a time of 44.82 seconds.

Class 5 sectionals in Kansas City
St. Joseph Central’s Makenzie Garr is state bound yet again. She took first at sectionals in shot put with a throw of 42 feet - 0.5 inches. Garr also took second in discus with a throw of 134 feet - 6 inches.

State track for Classes 3-5 comes up this Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City.
