Marsha D. Tyes, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024.
She was born December 22, 1953 in Carrollton, Missouri to George and Dolores (McCorkle) Swanegan. She grew up in Norborne, Missouri and graduated from Norborne High School.
Marsha married Donald Ray Tyes on April 6, 1985. From this union were born two children, Brooke Dionn Tyes and Shelby Nykole Tyes.
She attended Missouri Western State University for two years, then later completed her training and earned her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Hillyard Technical Center. She started her career at Heartland East Hospital, and later transitioned to Riverbend Treatment Center, where she worked until her retirement.
Marsha loved music and the Lord, and expressed that love and talent as a longtime member of St. Francis Baptist Temple, where she was a devoted piano player and member of the choir for over 30 years.
She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Marsha absolutely adored her granddaughter and loved spending time with her.
Marsha was the love and inspiration that held our family together, and we will miss her beyond words.
She was preceded in death by her father; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include her daughters, Brooke Tyes and Shelby Tyes; granddaughter, Maliyah Robinson; life companion, Donald Tyes; mother, Dolores Swanegan; brother, Larry Swanegan; other extended family members and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Friday, St. Francis Baptist Temple. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
