BENTON COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just before 1:30p.m. Saturday in Benton County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Matthew W. Dixon, 63, Chillicothe, was southbound on U.S. 65 just north of Jackman Avenue.
The car traveled off the right side of the road and the driver overcorrected. The car returned to the road, began to skid, crossed the center of the road, traveled off the left side of the road and struck three trees.
Dixon and a passenger Carin L. Dixon, 66, Chillicothe, were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Carin Dixon was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
