John M. Rice, a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on June 17, 2023, at the age of 63. Born on November 2, 1959, in St. Joseph, John was a beloved father and grandfather.
John dedicated 24 years of his life to working as a pressman at Tilco Printing Inc. He enjoyed his current job at the Haven House, where he was known for his kindness and friendly demeanor. An avid baseball fan, John shared his love for the sport through managing and coaching the Tilco Tornadoes for several years.
John enjoyed landscaping, fishing, working in the garage and spending time with his grandchildren.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will live on through the lives of his children and grandchildren, who will continue to cherish the time they spent with him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dolores (Hofmann) Rice.
He is survived by his children, Brandon Rice (Courtney), Jeron VanHoutan (R.W.), Jonathan Rice, Lauren Rice (Grant), and Lindsey Rice; former wife and mother of their children, Lisa Rice; grandchildren, Jerzie, Kylen, Silus, Bodhi, Sunni, and Riot; his sister and best friend, Sandi McCloud, and two other siblings, Linn and Andrew; beloved dog, Kato Rice; multiple nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will gather with friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
