Gordon E. Langerock, 86, Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023.
He was born September 2, 1937 to Earl and Adriana (Rowenhorst) Langerock in Canistota, South Dakota.
Gordon served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1958 at the Alaska Air Command in the Office of Special Investigation (OSI).
He married LouAnne Kitchen on May 8, 1959. After leaving the service, he attended Pasadena City College on the GI Bill and they bought the family poultry and egg business from Gordon’s parents.
In 1968, Gordon and LouAnne moved their young family from El Monte, California, to Lubbock, Texas, to go to Sunset International Bible Institute.
Gordon graduated from the school of preaching in 1970 and entered into full-time ministry and had pulpits in Sioux Center, Iowa, Sioux City, Iowa, East Hills Church of Christ in St. Joseph, and at the Church of Christ in Belton, Missouri.
Gordon retired from full-time preaching in 1983 and they took to the road in an RV to pursue a combination of travel and work. Gordon and LouAnne took a part-time vinyl repair business and turned it into a multi-state restaurant upholstery business. For the last 36 years, they have continued to work their business with tenacity and enthusiasm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Dan Langerock and Patricia Zauner.
Survivors include his wife, LouAnne; children, Keith (Lee) Langerock, Laura (Tim) Osborn, and Jeff (Shelly) Langerock; surrogate son, Dan (Leslie) Kelly; grandchildren, Meg (Ryan) Haywood, Courtney (Cameron) Corbet, Sophia (Billy) Betterton, Ivanna (Robert) Furgeson, Raquel (David) Farrington, Christina (Tyler) Padilla, Christopher Kelly, Danielle Kelly and Samuel Kelly; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pauline Lochran.
Graveside Farewell Services and Inurnment 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 22, Leavenworth National Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 21, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
