MSHP IDs man who died after semi struck bridge rail, overturned

HARRISON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 4a.m. Thursday in Harrison County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2019 Freightliner driven by Ibrahim A. Mohamud,  40, Lexington, Nebraska, was southbound on Interstate 35 two miles south of Bethany.

After entering a construction zone, the semi traveled off the west side of the  road, struck a guardrail, a concrete bridge rail, overturned on its top and blocked southbound traffic.

A passenger identified as Guled A. Abib, 21, Minneapolis, Minnesota, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Mohamud was not injured. 

The MSHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
