Cole Ragans pitched a solid six innings but the Royals offense struggled to produce runs and Kansas City fell for a third game in a row losing to the Oakland Athletics 5-1 at the Oakland Coliseum.
After Oakland scored two runs in the third inning, the Royals would get within one run in the top of the fifth, Bobby Witt Jr hitting a double to score Nelson Velasquez. But that's where the offense would end for Kansas City.
Ragans surrendered just four hits and two runs over six innings of action, striking out seven batters. John Schreiber would come on in relief in the seventh, surrendering two more runs. Oakland would add their final run in the eighth inning.
Both the Royals and Athletics had eight hits each in the game. Witt Jr and Kyle Isbel were both 2 for 4 in the effort, with Witt Jr. driving in the lone run of the game.
The Royals will look to snap their three game losing streak in the series finale in Oakland on Thursday. First pitch will be at 2:37pm with a 2pm pregame on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM). Seth Lugo will start for Kansas City against Mitch Spence for Oakland.
