Roy F. Wood passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 28, 1937. He was the oldest son of Milton and Lucille (Johnson) Wood.
He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1956. He joined Missouri Air National Guard in 1955 and served 9 years.
He married Carol Maxwell from Stanberry, Missouri on November 19, 1958. They were married over 64 years.
He was an union electrician with Local 545 for 42 years, retiring in 2000. He was a handy man and was always available to help anyone who needed help with a project. He enjoyed fishing, roller coasters and Nascar car racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald Wood, Sr. and Roger Wood.
He is survived by wife Carol, son Russell Wood (Cindy Porter) of Gower, MO; daughters Rhonda (Bill) Carroll of Wichita, KS and Ruth Wood (Ronnie Davidson) of Platte City, MO; 5 grandsons Quentin, Jared and Trevor Wood, Brett (Kayla) Carroll and Blake Carroll, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday June 25th from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Funeral service 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Interment following at Ashland Cemetery.
