Work is continuing on the $11.75 million project to improve Krug Park with the project still slated to be completed next year.
Officials with the city of St. Joseph are pleased with the work being done at Krug Park with work being done on the Krug Bowl amphitheater, as well as the castle, children’s circus, picnic shelters and restrooms. At Large City Councilmember Marty Novak says a lot of dirt is being moved currently.
"Right now, if you try to drive through, you're going to be able to get about halfway through, and then you're going to have to exit up at the top and come back around," Novak says on the KFEQmunnity show. :"They're working really diligently with Holiday Park coming up."
St. Joseph Parks and Recreation announced prior to the project that they still planned to open Holiday Park while renovations were happening. Also recently, on top of all the other projects happening, the St. Joseph City Council added one more upgrade.
During their meeting on August 31st, members of the St. Joseph City Council approved repairs to the Krug Park waterfall at a cost of $392,217.00. The council approved an amendment to the parks sales tax fund budget to cover the repair costs. The Park Sales Tax fund helped make the renovations at Krug Park possible.
Work is happening in multiple areas of the park now, on each project. The timeline is still on track for the project to be completed by the fall of 2027,
