Republicans maintained their grip on state legislative seats in northwest Missouri in the General Election.
Republican farmer and business owner Jeff Farnan of Stanberry won 75% of the vote in the Missouri 1st House District, defeating Democrat Jess Piper of Maryville. The 1st district is comprised of Atchison, Holt, Nodaway, and Gentry Counties.
Republican Mazzie Boyd of Hamilton, who upset Republican incumbent Randy Railsback in the primary, won the General Election in an overwhelming victory over Democrat Lois Pontius in the Missouri 2nd House District. Boyd won more than 82% of the vote. The 2nd is made up of Caldwell, Grundy, Daviess, Harrison, and Worth Counties.
Republican Josh Hurlbert defeated Alyssa Dial in the 8th District of Clinton and Clay Counties, securing 68% of the vote.
