Herbert Dale Humphrey, 72, of Lewis and Clark Village, MO peacefully passed away on October 9, 2023. Herb was born on March 10, 1951, in Kansas City, MO to the late Thomas Arthur Humphrey Jr. and the late Laura May (Shreve) Humphrey. Herb graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO with the Class of 1969.
Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy (Dunlap) Humphrey. They happily married on August 19, 1971, in Kansas City, MO.
Surviving family members include daughters Jennifer Hare (James) of Kansas City, MO., Janean Phillippe (Mike) of St. Joseph, MO., and Megan Larkin (Matt) of Lewis and Clark Village, MO.; grandchildren Bryston Humphrey (of the home), Kloey Albertson, Larsyn Phillippe, Sydney Hare, Matthew Larkin, and Miles Larkin; siblings Wilma Alexander, Lloyd Humphrey (Glenace), Larry Humphrey (the late Lea), Robert Humphrey, Loren Humphrey (Diane), Helen Guffey (Bob), Ruth Allen (Gary), and Michelle Thompson (Walter).
Herb worked in Hospital Safety and Risk Management for many years at Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, Baptist Hospital in Kansas City, and Heartland Health in St. Joseph. Herb changed career paths in the early 2000s and worked at several car dealerships in the St. Joseph area.
Herb was a long-time bowler in Kansas City and St. Joseph. He was named the 1994 St. Joseph City Tournament Champion and was placed in the St. Joseph USBC Hall of Fame in 2008. Herb had numerous 1st place tournament wins, multiple 11 in a row games, a 299 game, 2x 300 games, and an 800 series.
At Herb’s request, there will be no funeral service. He will be laid to rest with his wife in Winston, MO.
