The City of St. Joseph has appointed Lori Lanter as the new director of finance.
Most recently, Lanter served as business manager for the Atchison Public Schools in Kansas, a position which she held since 2009. In her previous role, she prepared materials for teacher negotiations, provided financial comparisons and recommendations, directed accounts payable and purchase card operations, handled monthly bank reconciliations, served as liaison for external audits and prepared the district’s annual budget and multi-year financial projections.
“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the City of St. Joseph as finance director,” Lanter says in a news release from the city. “I look forward to bringing my experience in public-sector finance and budgeting to the City while working collaboratively with staff and leadership to contribute to the City’s continued success.”
City Manager Mike Schumacher adds in the news release Lanter’s experience made her the clear choice to lead the department.
“Lori brings a strong combination of financial expertise and public-sector experience to this role,” Schumacher says. “Her extensive experience overseeing budgets, financial projections and day-to-day financial operations will serve the City well as she leads our finance department.
Lanter will begin her duties as finance director on Monday, August 17th. Her salary is $125,000.
