Lavern "Vernie" Salisbury, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Vernie was born on November 15, 1964 to the late Lawrence and Pauline (Hess) Sowards in St. Joseph, Missouri; of where she was a lifelong resident and attended Central High School.
Vernie was owner and operator of M &M Battery Recycling for over fifteen year. Prior to that she was a manager for Marcus's Bar and Grill.
Vernie was president of the Women's Dart League in St. Joseph. She enjoyed playing darts with her friends, loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed reading and riding motorcycles.
Vernie married Marc Salisbury on December 15, 1982 and celebrated forty years of marriage. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include children, Marc, Jr. of the home; John (Ryan) Salisbury, Paula Salisbury and Jenny (John) O'Callaghan, all of St. Joseph; granchildren, Cara, Julie, John, Dalton, Ryder, Jensen, Avery, Riddick and Rilyn; great-grandchildren, Michael and Greyson; three sisters, Deborah Wiedmaier, Linda Williams, Delores King and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Vernie was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Dean.
Visitation will be held after 9:00 AM Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
