Dennis Murl Bodenhausen, 79, of Lancaster, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.
Dennis was born on June 3, 1946, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Carl H. Bodenhausen and Mabel K. (Pike) Bodenhausen. He devoted his life to faith, family, and farming.
On March 27, 1966, Dennis married Judith Hundley, beginning a partnership built on love, hard work, and dedication that lasted throughout their lives. Together, they built a home, a family, and a legacy rooted deeply in their faith and community.
A lifelong and dedicated dairy farmer, Dennis poured his energy and purpose into the land and the work he loved. Over the years, he served his agricultural community in many ways, including as a member of the Dairy Board, the Farm Bureau Board, and the Extension Board. He also served on the D.H.I.A. Board and was a committed member of Camp Creek United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served as church treasurer and financial secretary. In recognition of his early leadership and dedication to agriculture, Dennis received the American Farmer Degree in 1966, a distinction he remained proud of throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Todd) Dilley of Lawrence, Kansas; his son, Scott (Jennifer) Bodenhausen of DeSoto, Kansas; and his beloved grandchildren Jakob Bosnak, Andrea Morris, Kaitlyn Bruce, Sydney Dilley, Carly Bodenhausen, and William Bodenhausen. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren Evelyn and Micah Bosnak; Emery and Lyla Bruce; and Vivian Morris, who brought him immense joy.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Bodenhausen; his parents; his brothers, David (JoAnn) Bodenhausen and Wayne Bodenhausen; and his sisters, Rosemary Bodenhausen and Doris (Melvin) Bunse.
Dennis’s life was one of quiet integrity, service, and love. His memory will continue to be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
