North Andrew scored touchdowns on four consecutive drives in the second half, putting up 30 points after the break, and the Cardinals rallied for a 38-34 win at St. Joseph Christian Friday.
North Andrew (2-2) was down 14-8 at halftime and then trailed 22-14 with 3:10 to go in the third.
The Cardinals, though, kept the ball on the ground for most of Friday's game, and scored 16 unanswered to go up 30-22 with 8:29 left in the game.
That lead grew to 38-28 with 5:41 to go. Quarterback Braxon Linville carried the load for North Andrew, toting the rock 35 times for 195 yards and four touchdowns.
The Cardinals had a series of bad snaps and were called on 12 penalties for 70 yards. Seven of those penalties were false starts. North Andrew had just one turnover, which led to no points for Christian.
The Cardinals turned a fourth quarter pick from Mattox Sybert into a late touchdown to go up 10 in the fourth. North Andrew was also 4-for-5 on two-point tries.
Avery Miller had seven carries for 68 yards and a score. He also had four pass breakups and an interception. Matthew Evans carried it 11 times for 55 yards. The Cardinals unofficially finished with 326 yards rushing.
Christian (2-2) battled throughout the night, as the game featured three ties, but a fourth quarter interception, a turnover on downs in the third and three missed two-point conversions cost the Lions in a close game.
Christian quarterback Levi Miller completed 18-of-37 pass attempts for 247 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Vail Freuchting caught eight passes for 119 yards and three scores. Cy Carlson had eight catches for 96 yards and a score. Peyton Hausman had seven carries for 60 yards rushing and a score as well.
St. Joseph Christian travels to Worth County next Friday. North Andrew goes home to face Albany.
