Marcia Ann (Layland) Brown, 80, joined her beloved husband Merlin in heaven on Saturday morning, June 22, 2024.
Marcia married Merlin Brown in 1962 and together they built a life centered on their faith in Christ and family.
Marcia was a secondary education teacher until she found her calling in nursing, first at Woodson Children’s Psychiatric Hospital and then retiring from the State Psychiatric Hospital.
Marcia and Merlin opened their home to anyone in need from exchange students to extended family and friends in crisis and her gift for genuine hospitality made each one feel like family.
Marcia was quirky, compassionate, stubborn, passionate, loyal, forgiving, generous to a fault, sneaky when she wanted to be, outspoken and yet private about her feelings. She loved without boundaries, and she will be well and truly missed.
Marcia is survived by daughter, Laura (Eric) Elder; son, Robert (Jami) Brown; grandchildren, Greggory (Noelle) Hazelrigg, Blake (Zach) Elder, Austin (Keelyn) Elder, Zach Brown and Briana Brown, great-grandchildren, Sophia, Gabriel and Brynlee Hazelrigg; and many friends who she loved like family.
Farewell Services 11:00 A.M. Friday, Turning Point Church of the Nazarene. The family will gather with friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
