The City of Saint Joseph has announced the return of the annual Spring Clean Sweep, scheduled to run from April 1 - 7.
The week-long initiative provides residents a dedicated window to dispose of unwanted household items and tidy their properties.
The program returns this year after being canceled last year in an effort to reduce landfill waste. For the 2026 event, the city is offering free disposal of trash, yard waste, and appliances at the local landfill on designated days.
While the event is designed to help residents with major spring cleaning, city officials emphasize that it is not a replacement for regularly scheduled curbside trash services.
- Location: City Landfill (Open during normal operating hours).
- Accepted Items: General trash, appliances, and yard waste.
- Requirements: Residents should be prepared to show proof of residency if requested.
Participants are encouraged to visit the city’s official website prior to arrival to review specific restrictions, as certain hazardous materials or commercial loads may not be eligible for free disposal.
