If you were ever thinking about adopting a pet from the shelter, now is the perfect time thanks to a generous offer from a nationwide company.
Friend of the Animal Shelter's Melanie Barnes says that the Bissell Pet Foundation is going to help waive adoption fees from May 2nd to the 14th.
"I don't know if you've ever seen commercials for Bissell, but they very much promote their vacuums for picking up pet hair or maybe spot cleaning accident spots or things like that," Barnes tells KFEQ Hotline host Barry Birr. "So, they are a huge company that supports adoption and having pets in your household."
Barnes says the Bissell Pet Foundation chose 100 animal shelters nationwide for its national 'Empty the Shelters' event.
"And so, we were chosen as one of our shelters with the Bissell Pet Foundation to Empty the Shelters," Barnes explains.
But this offer Barnes says will only be available for a limited time this month.
"Starting May 2nd running through May 14th adoption fees for adoptable pets are waived because they are being sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation," Barnes says.
Barnes says you will have to fill out all the normal paperwork you would need to adopt a pet, but the shelter will get reimbursed by Bissell for each adoption through the 14th.
And Barnes says now is the perfect time to come out to adopt a pet.
"We tend to have several puppies and kittens during this time of year so, I think it's perfect timing, I don't believe we have ever been sponsored with this foundation before so it's a very unique event, we're very excited to be on that shortlist and very excited for families if they're thinking about adopting," Barnes says.
