Roger Owen Dwyer, 72, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

He was born February 10, 1953 in St. Joseph, son of Pauline (Winfrey) and Owen Dwyer. He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1971, and later from Missouri Western State College. He married Karen Gwinn on July 15, 1972 in St. Joseph.  He proudly served his country for 4 years with the United States Marines at MCAS Beaufort. Following his Military Service, he worked at Johnson Controls for 20 years, Quaker Oats, and later Boehringer-Ingelheim. Roger was a former member of the VFW. His best times were spent with his family, the children he loved,  and at his cabin in the Ozarks.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Smith, and father-in-law, Victor Gwinn. Survivors include: his wife, Karen Dwyer of the home, daughters, Megan and Sara Dwyer of St. Joseph, mother-in-law, Willia Gwinn of St. Joseph, brother-in-law, David Gwinn of St. Joseph, nephews, Derick (Michelle) Gwinn and Jayson Gwinn, niece, Tara (Clay) Redmond, several great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nephews, and chosen family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Rupp Funeral Home. Roger will be cremated following visitation under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Private Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
