Roberta "Bobbie" Moore Snyder, 88, of Leavenworth, KS, died October 20, 2024, after a brief illness. Bobbie was born in Leavenworth on October 12, 1936, daughter of Dr. Robert H. Moore and Ethel Wehrman Moore.
She grew up in Lansing, a small tightly-knit community where she learned to pitch in and participate. She was an accomplished equestrian, pianist, and class Valedictorian. She attended Sophie Newcomb at Tulane, and graduated from the University of Nebraska. She received her Masters in Education at the University of Kansas.
Bobbie retired after teaching second grade for 40 years, where she was honored as Kansas Teacher of the Year, and enjoyed her return to teaching students seeking their GED at Project Stay. A lifelong volunteer, Bobbie served others through teaching at Second Mile, tutoring children and adults in reading, the Reach to Recovery program of the American Cancer Society, Cushing Hospital, Welcome Central, and the Community Meal program through her involvement with the Presbyterian Church, and countless other community boards and committees. She was a member of PEO and the Whittier Club.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband, James N. "Jimmy" Snyder, Jr. She is survived by her children, Holly Saunders (Tim) and Jill Kaczynski (Kevin), and her beloved grandchildren and dog, Buddy.
A memorial service is planned November 1st at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Leavenworth. Bobbie was passionate about helping others, and loved animals.
