Kenneth Hanf September 23, 1936-May 30, 2025

Kenneth Edward Hanf, 88, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, at Atchison Senior Village.

Ken was born on September 23, 1936, the son of Edward Albert Hanf and Erma Marie (Servaes) Hanf. Ken attended Atchison County Community High School (ACCHS) where he was a member of the 1952 undefeated football team. He was quite the athlete. He then attended Highland Community College. After college, Ken moved to Shawnee, Kansas for an accounting position and this is where he started his family. He married Marlene Dorrell on April 13, 1956. Ken and Marlene lived in Shawnee until 1978 when they moved back to the family farm in Atchison, Kansas. Ken received his realtors license shortly after moving back to Atchison and was a realtor until his retirement. He also worked as a cottage parent for the youth center for several years and worked for the local water district. Ken enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild participate in any athletics or activities they were pursuing and he loved to take care of his cows.

Ken is survived by sons Kevin Hanf, Cummings, KS, Scott Hanf, Paola, KS and Brent Hanf, Paola, KS, daughter Deana (Douglas) Thom, Shawnee, KS, sister Shirley Livingston, ten grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Ken is preceded in death by his loving wife, both of his parents, brother Albert Hanf, and sisters Stella Cauthen and Freida Navinskey.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm at St. Pats School House, Atchison, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be to Sumner Cemetery and can be sent in care of Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.
