Steven Estes passed away quietly in his sleep Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 74 in his home in St Joseph, MO.
Steve led a very full and action filled life, having had a career in wrestling from 1979 through 2006. He ran wrestling’s NWA Midwest and owned Midland Empire Wrestling from 1995 through 2003 where he wrestled professionally as The Assassin. He later promoted wrestling until he became ill.
He was a proud veteran Honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1971.
Steve married his current wife, Jan Collado, June 10, 2005 and developed a very strong bond with his granddaughter’s Jaycelynn and Millie.
Steve was born in Wichita KS on November 18, 1950 and was preceded in death by parents, David Sr and Dorothy Estes and brother David. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Sue Estes, married 1970-2003. He is survived by his sister Rosalie (Earl) Hadle with nieces and nephews through both siblings.
Steve had numerous children both naturally and through marriage later in life.
He will be missed by his son’s Brian Estes, Brad and his daughter Beronica Sue with numerous grandchildren through them.
In his home Steve is survived by his wife Jan (Collado) Estes, where he gained sons and daughters. Brandi (Anthony) Lopez, Kristi (Phil) Ellis, Jaime (Kim) Collado, Staci Collado, Kevin Collado, and Joy Collado along with many grandchildren that he was able to form a strong bond with.
In his last months of fighting he was also taken care of by Matt Dilley, who loved him and dedicated many hours to making Steve as comfortable as possible.
